WE LOVE THE DIRTY REDS

Why play for Drummoyne
“Dirty Reds” Juniors?

The Drummoyne Rugby Club has a rich history going back to 1874 and is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in Australia.  It consists of the Drummoyne Districts Junior Rugby Union Club and is backed by the Drummoyne Seniors Club, that fields senior teams in the Subbies division (NSW Suburban Rugby), one of the leading amateur Rugby Clubs in Sydney and heralding as the Club Champions of the 2020 competition.

The Juniors home ground is Taplin Park, Drummoyne, with the Seniors home to the illustrious and famous Drummoyne Oval.  They are collectively called the Dirty Reds –  a title that stems from their scarlet jerseys and vigorous playing style !

At Drummoyne Juniors, we field teams ranging in age from U6 to U17 and encourage all abilities to get involved and give rugby a red hot go!

At the Dirty Reds, we are passionate about instilling the culture of grass roots rugby into all of our players.  Every player gets a run at Drummoyne Districts Junior Rugby, it’s mates with mates and a heap of fun thrown in!

Why should my child be involved
in the Junior Player Pathway?

  • The Junior Player Pathway provides kids with a safe and enjoyable introduction to the skills and tactical principles of the game of rugby union;
  • Irrespective of size, body shape or ability, players are given the opportunity to reach their potential in a caring, fun and safe environment;
  • Pathway games provide the basic skills and understanding of set plays through the modified scrum, maul and lineout situations;
  • The desirable qualities of rugby – sportsmanship and fair play – are positively rewarded, with minimal emphasis on competition;
  • With your support, you will see your child’s coordination, confidence, self-esteem and social skills improve immensely in a very short period of time. This will help to provide a good basis of health, fitness and motor skills for future years.

Looking forward to seeing you on the field!
